Applied Mathematics

The Department of Applied Mathematics is the only teacher-training program in the College of Science and Engineering.

Applied mathematics, AI and information technology, and mathematics education provide a broad range of career opportunities, which are key strengths of the program.

The Department of Applied Mathematics at National University of Tainan is dedicated to helping students deeply understand the practical value of mathematics in the real world. We empower students with the ability to learn independently and nurture their creative thinking in solving complex problems. The department also promotes STEAM courses, SDGs education, and organizes career development seminars to inspire students to embrace the challenges of the new era.

Major Areas of Study

Applied mathematics

Our Applied Mathematics program teaches students how to apply mathematical principles to solve real-world problems across various fields, including finance, engineering, science, and business. Beyond numerical computations, we emphasize the role of mathematics in modern society, fostering students’ critical thinking and practical application skills. Graduates of this program gain a competitive edge in numerous industries by mastering analytical techniques essential for tackling complex challenges.

Data Science

Our Data Science program immerses students in the dynamic world of big data, equipping them with the expertise to extract valuable insights from complex datasets. Through hands-on case studies and practical projects, students develop proficiency in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization, along with foundational knowledge in machine learning. Mathematics Education

The Mathematics Education program is designed to nurture exceptional educators who can inspire a love for mathematics in their students.
